Qualifications

A Chartered Professional Engineer in the field of structural engineering, with over 14 years’ experience in complex structural/earthquake design & project management of building structures.

Having been directly involved in the Christchurch earthquake response; I have undertaken numerous repairs, strengthening and new build projects within commercial, industrial and government sectors. My expertise ranges from low to medium high-rise buildings of various material forms, with focus on resilient design technology.

I undertook Bachelors in Civil Engineering at the University of Auckland (UoA). In my final years, I went on to specialize in Structural engineering, while receiving the NZCS Sandy Cormack Award and NZCS Concrete Prize for my academic performance. Through hard work and support from some excellent faculty at the UoA, I also received the Fulbright MoRST Scholarship. This allowed me to continue my study in Master of Structural Engineering, at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). I achieved world class training from this cutting edge research institution. I learnt structural engineering from first principals, all the way to computer programming non-linear material hysteresis behaviour.

Upon my return to NZ, I initiated work as a structural engineer in post-earthquake Christchurch with Beca Group Ltd. Over the course of 10-12 years, this led me  to become a Senior Structural Engineer at Aurecon Group Ltd and a Structural Team Leader with Babbage Consultants Ltd.

I have been fortunate to achieve my training and work experience from some of the best people in the industry. Now, I have embarked on my own journey to deliver excellence in structural engineering to anyone that needs it.
